#SingleGoals2020: Joy is creating space for other singles

We’re so excited to introduce our next #SingleGoals2020 feature who has a heart for singles as well! Joy J. is in her early 30s and comes to us from Belleville, IL, just a short distance from St. Louis. Check out what Joy is doing to make the most of her single and dating season!

BLISS: We want to know your story! Share how you are making the most out of your singleness:

JJ: I’ve been single for about 6 years. I’m a choir director and youth leader at my church. I LOVE my kiddos! In addition to working with the youth, I am the creator of a Facebook group called “Singles Exchange.” Singles Exchange is a conversation in motion that focuses on conversations, connections, and community. It is my unexpected brain child and I enjoy building it as my brand.

BLISS: What is one piece of advice that you would like to share with other singles?

JJ: Don’t waste your singleness! Live it out as fully as possible. Do things you enjoy. Create memories. Have new experiences. Allow God to show you who you are and work hard to embrace that person!

BLISS: What are you currently doing in ministry or for the Kingdom of God?

JJ: I am a choir director and youth leader at my church. I am currently mentoring 4 young ladies.

BLISS: What project or business do you want to share with the BLISSforSingles audience?

JJ: I would love to share my Facebook group “Singles Exchange” with you all. In this group, we talk about the realities that surround dating in this day and age. We discuss self-care and how it relates to being whole when entering the dating scene. The conversation surrounds singles, but we have participants who are dating and married as well.

I believe that allowing everyone to participate in the conversation provides multiple perspectives. We currently have 2 weekly hashtags: #MarriedMondays, when we allowing our dating and married exchangers to speak on certain topics, and #SelfLoveSaturdays when we discuss the importance of self-care. This year, we are implementing a new hashtag, #WorkinItWednesdays, when we feature small business owners and entrepreneurs once a week.

It’s so dope to see other people and ministries work to provide spaces for singles to share, grow and learn! Thank you Joy for sharing your #SingleGoals with the BLISS fam!
