Faith & Entrepreneurship: Pursuing your God-given business ideas

We’re huge fans of the leaders who have taken their calling and built God-centered organizations to impact the world. It’s even more satisfying when we can bring those stories center stage to inspire others who intend to do the same.

We had the pleasure to connect with Jasmine Fountain, the leader of a nonprofit organization called God’s Butterfly Effect. Jasmine is an entrepreneur who is part of the Blaze Group LLC community of Black female entrepreneurs.

Jasmine, tell us more about God’s Butterfly Effect and who it serves.

God’s Butterfly Effect is a collective of diverse women that provide testimonies, classes, mentorship, mission trips, and retreats that empower young women to cultivate an intimate relationship with God, believe in their God-given identity, and pursue their kingdom purpose while being surrounded by sisters in Christ.

What inspired you to start your business and how did your relationship with God play a factor in it?

For young women, I wanted to be what I wish I had growing up: sisterhood, wise counsel, loving support, and an authentic way to access the Word of God.

I needed safe spaces to be vulnerable…I needed to know that I could be loved on my darkest days and in the midst of my gravest mistakes.

As God drew me to Himself with His unfailing love, He inspired me to be honest with my journey to cultivate true sisterhood with others. Then, one day in prayer, He told me what I had sought to co-create with Him for women my age. He wanted me to bring those gifts to the youth.

How has your nonprofit organization evolved over time?

God’s Butterfly Effect originally sought to build godly sisterhood for women. Now, it seeks to encourage women to build relationships with little sisters in Christ, in hopes of helping them to live a life where they feel seen, heard, and cared for.

What are some of the ways that your organization has impacted the women that you serve? What impact are you most proud of?

Recently, we hosted our first retreat. We were able to raise the funds to bring mentors and mentees from four different states together.

One of the young women who attended has been dealing with debilitating migraines, depression, and anorexia. Before she struggled to get out of bed and many times contemplated not coming at all. During the retreat, she experienced a breakthrough and was able to eat freely, spend time in nature, laugh, pray, and socialize.

She recently told me that the shift she experienced during the retreat helped her enjoy life more at home.

How did the Blaze Business Intensive help you with your nonprofit organization and what words would you offer to others who may be considering taking the course?

BLAZE helped me to understand how to create a clear business plan and develop a solid foundation. It also gave me the courage to articulate to others what I was doing and what I hope to do. Additionally, it helped me to contemplate how I could better plan for the future of the LLC aspect of God’s Butterfly Effect.

I would highly encourage anyone to take the Blaze Business Intensive course. Casey is a beautiful leader, who flawlessly creates a loving environment for you to learn. She has abundant knowledge, and the course she has developed will definitely be an asset to you as you pursue your dreams.

What has God’s Butterfly Effect been up to lately?

This summer, we hosted our first official retreat! God blessed us to stay in a beautiful beach house off of Lake Huron.

Mentors and mentees from four different states were in attendance, and we had the opportunity to enjoy moments with ourselves, each other, and the Lord.

For some of the girls, it was their first time ever leaving their home state. It was truly a blessing. Some young women stepped out in the prophetic, some led sessions, some prayed for others out loud for the first time, and some were given their spiritual names by God.

It was beautiful, and God was faithful.
