Purity is Possible: #MeettheBowmans One Year Later

Last year around this time I shared one of the most viewed blog posts on this site and it was about this lovely couple! Many blessings and congrats to them as they have shared their love for God and each other by waiting til marriage and have blessed so many others with their testimony. October 10 marks their one year anniversary and they’re celebrating in Europe:

Happy Anniversary to the Bowmans! Below is our blog coverage from their nuptials in 2015:

I’d like to thank my fellow blogger sis and sister in Christ, Myrlande of I Waited Blog, for sharing a post on Facebook last night. It was a photo of Brelyn Freeman, a young entrepreneur and preacher of purity, on her wedding day. I didn’t realize that her groom was Gospel artist Tim Bowman Jr., who we’ve interviewed here on B.L.I.S.S. before, so I was happy to hear the news!

It’s a blessing to get a glimpse of their wedding day and know that they saved themselves for one another and to honor God. Let’s share the news: Purity is Possible in 2015! Here are some of the special moments captured from Instagram via #MeetTheBowmans

The couple blessed someone else on their way to matrimony. Brelyn shared on her Instagram account that while the couple was on their way to get their marriage license, they were able to help another couple pay for their license/fees. It’s a blessing to be able to be selfless and consider others when you’re getting married. Marriage is a ministry and it allows you opportunities to give and bless others.

The peace of God covered our day. One of my greatest desires for my wedding and marriage thereafter is that God is the center and is glorified. It’s beautiful to see couples worship the Gift-giver at their wedding and give honor where it’s due. “It was truly an atmosphere where angels could reside & not feel out of place. A place where love healed broken hearts, encouraged some to press on & to rekindle love,” Brelyn shared.

They honored God with their purity. Once again, purity is possible! It made me so glad to know that Brelyn and Tim were both virgins and they have dated for about 3 years. I’ve learned that it’s more than just being a virgin ‘til marriage to honor God, but to be pure in mind, body and spirit. This is necessary for a great marriage and your commitment to the Lord. Brelyn even had certificate of purity that she kept and had signed on her wedding day. That’s rare to be a virgin nowadays, but if you are not a virgin you can always recommit your body to the Lord (Romans 12:1-2) and honor God with a celibate lifestyle, saving intimacy for your future spouse.

Groom serenaded his bride at the ceremony. Did I mention that this wedding had over 3,500 guests and an online view of the wedding ceremony? Talk about a large wedding! Brelyn comes from Drs. Mike and Dee Dee Freeman of Spirit of Faith Christian Church and she has her own online platform that reaches young people about purity, with an audience of over 22K on Instagram alone. Wedding guests recorded the special moment as Tim sang “I Believe in You and Me” as his bride walked down the aisle with her dad. Every now and then you see a musically inclined groom sing to his bride and I’m all here for it. The groom shared: “I tried my hardest to make it through this song without crying! Lol Well I failed, but what came out was from my heart straight to my wife!! Still just humbled and grateful that people came out to celebrate w/ us!”

Fairy-tale style wedding with a modern edge. From the Vera Wang bridal gown to the glamorous ceremony photos and honeymoon to Dubai, you’d think that this was a modern day fairy-tale. It’s a beautiful thing to see Black Love celebrated is a big way. It’s not always about the glitz and glam, but when you are obedient to God He can and will give you more than you’ve ever expected. A few trends to note for weddings in this decade are: the clever wedding day hashtag (#MeetTheBowmans), on fleek engagement photos, photo booth fun, and more. I love the paper floral wall that they had for the ceremony, much thanks to their décor specialist Darnice Martin with Paper Posh Events.

Many blessings to this couple and if you want to learn more about the Bowmans, view their wedding thank you video here.
