#SingleGoals2020: Ka’Lan is tapping into her creativity

Our first #SingleGoals2020 of May is a talented photographer and sister in Christ, Ka’Lan J. from Chicago! This single creative is in her early 30s and shared with us what she’s pursuing in her single season:

BLISS: Share how you are making the most out of your singleness:

Ka’Lan: “I’ve been spending this time to grow closer in my walk with the Lord, connecting with other sisters in faith, studying scriptures, writing, working with clients and attempting to find ways to be encouraging and helpful to others, assisting my family.”

BLISS: What is one piece of advice that you would like to share with other singles?

KJ: “Don’t be distracted by the fact that you aren’t dating someone; at times singles can be so discouraged that they aren’t romantically involved that they can become stagnant and miss the ways God is using them for his glory.”

“Being single isn’t of a lesser status, as a single you have more opportunity and time to be of use for the Lord than some of your married or dating friends might.”

“Find ways to encourage others, spend time getting to know the scriptures for yourself, create a lifestyle of worship that can be increased and built upon more if you are to marry in the future. Think of something you feel could be useful for your church or in the world wide body of Christ, aim to fill that void if no one else has.”

BLISS: What are you currently doing in ministry or for the Kingdom of God?

KJ: “I currently write about various topics in relation to black womanhood, Christian faith, life and culture. I also assist with the production of an online Black women’s theology group and in the women’s ministry with my local church.”

BLISS: What project or business do you want to share with the BLISSforSingles audience?

KJ: “I work as a Freelance Photographer and also writing on my blog website and other publications that might find my words of interest: kalanjones.com and kalanjones.wordpress.com

BLISS: Anything else that you’d like to share with us?

‘Watch out, brothers and sisters, so that there won’t be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin’s deception. For we have become participants in Christ if we hold firmly until the end the reality that we had at the start.’ Hebrews 3:12-14 (CSB)

Thank you Ka’Lan for sharing your #singlegoals with us! She has also contributed a post for us on BLISS before; check out her piece on opposite sex friendships here.

If you or someone you know is single and should be part of this series, feel free to fill out this brief form for consideration for the #SingleGoals2020 series!
