Next up in our #SingleGoals2020 series is good friend of mine, Shaunte B. from Chicago! Her single season opened her to new horizons of international travel to places like Dubai and recently Egypt. She fell in love with the travel lifestyle so much that it has become a new opportunity for her! Read more of our interview below:
BLISS: Share how you are making the most out of your singleness:
Shaunte: I am making the most of my singleness by living my life fully and embracing my life’s journey with every adventure that comes. God graced me to experience a major health setback and two baecations gone wrong so I could find new strength, boldness, and zest for and in life.
During this time of singleness, I am focusing on my VISIONaries (the youth from my youth organization, VISION Outreach, NFP), exploring the various avenues of my creativity (acting, producing videos, writing plays, etc.), and creating content for my travel adventures blog, vlog, and travel swag line, Live Learn Love Travel Adventures.
In addition to putting in gratifying work that’s external, I am using this time to also turn inward, improving my relationship with God as well as myself. I realized too often I was selfless to the point that it was disrespectful to me. So I learned the power of saying “Yes” to myself, “No,” and “That does not serve me,” to others–just being authentically me in everything. The freeness I’ve gained in this season has been amazing!
BLISS: What is one piece of advice that you would like to share with other singles?
“Live your life fully in every season of your life.”
BLISS: What are you currently doing in ministry or for the Kingdom of God?
S: I am a pastor currently on sabbatical, and I’ve served my church in the capacity of its pastor since 2010. I started a youth community organization, VISION Outreach, NFP, where I work with youth on the South Side of Chicago, and we provide inspiration, education, and revelation. My purpose in this lane of ministry is to rebuild the community–stronger and wiser–from the bottom up.
With the VISIONaries (that’s what I call the youth who participate), we partake in community service projects including weekly inspirational videos that are now all produced solely by the VISIONaries. In addition to my work with the VISIONaries, I have found sharing my testimony and travels through Live Learn Love Travel Adventures have proven to be a ministry for women waiting to break free from fear and living a life of limitation.
