Are we ready to change or leave things the way they are?

This is part of the Stay-at-home Chronicles series

“If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.” James 4:17

People are marching. People are raising awareness on their social media platforms. People are creating and circulating online petitions. Lawmakers are being inundated with creating and passing reformation laws. African American people are still demanding to be given the rights to live, move, breathe and occupy this nation without being marginalized!

Many of us are speaking out for a change to take place, however there are many who believe everything is fine and change is unnecessary. Those who don’t want a change are not being affected; as a matter of fact, they have benefited tremendously from the division within this nation. Thus change will extract the privileges they have become accustomed to all their lives.

Even though slavery was abolished, this nation has never accepted African American people as an equal entity. The hate is real.

“Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.” 1 John 3:15

Recently, there have been some statues of racist leaders that have been vandalized and destroyed. An executive order was drawn and passed to protect monuments, memorials, and statues. Lynchings, murders, and racial injustices against African American people have been making news headlines continuously, yet not one bill addressing these hate crimes has been passed as of late. It’s angering when inanimate objects hold more value than human lives.

Yet this nation prides itself on patriotism. So to those who believe that change is unnecessary, I strongly urge you to read the Constitution. Take a good look at what is transpiring in our world today and ask yourself this question: African Americans racially profiled, murdered at the hands of racists, mistreated and falsely accused—are they protected by this justice for all found in the Constitution, the same way Caucasians are? Look at the facts—they don’t lie.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” In doing this, it will invoke God to react as He says He will in 2 Chronicles 7:15:Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.”

It amazes me how politicians end their speeches by using this phrase rather loosely, “God Bless America!” How can a Holy God bless a nation that practices hate against His African American creation? How can a God—who is no respecter of persons, bless a nation that is a respecter of persons? How do you expect God to respond towards a nation that refuses to relinquish their sinful practices?

“God resisteth the proud” James 4:6b
“Pride goeth before destruction”
Proverbs 16:18a

Change is coming! Live your life daily as if you have already achieved your goals in life right here, right now, in the present.
